Update from Administrator – June 23, 2020

Happy Father’s Day to ALL the Dad’s out there!

June 18 began National C N A Week. There are not enough words to describe what these individuals do for our residents by keeping them safe, healthy, and happy. There are many jobs that these individuals could choose from, but they have chosen this profession due to their compassion and loyalty to healthcare. So, during this week and beyond, remember to thank a C N A whenever you have the opportunity. Most of their work and caring goes unnoticed but their pride is in their residents. To all C N A’s out there keep up the good work and we thank you for your efforts.

In accordance with our new visitation policy, we will continue to offer outdoor social distancing visit options for residents to spend time with family, friends, and loved one. As outlined in our previous email, the following are the stipulations and requirement reminders, along with clarifications:

Guidelines for Outdoor Social Distancing Visits

This facility is pleased that we are now able to facilitate outdoor social distancing visits between you and your loved one.  We recognize how stressful the visitor restrictions have been on our residents and their families/friends and we want this to be a successful and safe opportunity for all.   Procedures have been established with guidance from the MA. Dept. of Public Health, the MA. Dept. of Epidemiology and State Long Term Care Ombudsman Office and must be adhered to for the safety of our residents.

Guidelines

  • All visits must be scheduled in advance and will take place in a designated area. At this time we can only allow 1 visit per week per resident (large families will need to switch off with their relatives when booking). NEW! Instituting a wait list system for those who want more than 1 outdoor visit per week. Email Recreation@webstermanorrhcc.com to be put on a rotating list. Each day we can check at 3PM and if there’s an empty slot for an outdoor visit, a call will be placed to the person at the top of the list. Each time an extra visit is given the name will be put on the bottom of the waiting list to start again.
  • The visitor must have their temperature taken and answer simple questions prior to the resident coming out for the visit.
  • The resident and their visitor(s) must always wear a facial mask.
  • Social distancing must be maintained throughout the entire visit. This means that the resident and their visitor(s) must always be at least six (6) feet apart.
  • Person to person contact between the resident and visitor(s) is prohibited.
  • No items may be transferred between visitor(s), residents and staff.
  • The visits will be for a maximum of thirty (30) minutes.
  • The maximum number of visitors allowed at one time is two (2).
  • No smoking with resident during visit.
  • Visits will only be scheduled before sundown.
  • A facility staff member will be required to remain with the resident and visitor(s) at all times
  • Compassionate care visits can be offered in the event of “end of life” care. Please ask Administrator on the guidelines for this measure at Administrator@webstermanorrhcc.com.

If you need assistance signing up you may email Recreation@webstermanorrhcc.com or call 508-949-0644 ext. 226. Visitors must arrive at least 10 minutes prior to visitation for proper screening by center (at the main front entrance).  All Visitors must be wearing facemask or facemask will be given before screening. We are still offering other options for visiting with your family member such as electronic devices (COVID + patients) and/or window visits (inclement weather) that can also be scheduled with Mike by email or by phone.

Enjoy your time with your loved one and please comply with these safety guidelines as listed above.  If you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to call or email me at any time.

We currently have 41 positive residents together on our COVID + unit (as per DPH regulation). We continue to follow all CDC and state guidelines and receive regular updates on new guidelines that are offered. Webster Manor is also looking into interval testing for residents and staff to monitor our progression with COVID-19. Our hopes are to level off and begin our downward trend on the road to recovery.

Good news… Of those 41 residents 19 have met the recovered status while being monitored for any residual sign or symptoms. We are very excited for these residents & their families. Please note that COVID positives and recovered can live together, although pending bed availability room changes can/will occur.

We encourage any residents and family members to contact Corey or Sandra at 508-949-0644 ext. 258 or 223 with any questions you have about the care we are offering. Our commitment is to be as transparent as possible and work to address any issues that arise. This is an incredibly challenging time and we will continue to do all we can to get through this, together.

Thank you and please stay safe and healthy!

Kind Regards,

Corey Beaudette, NHA
